The Georgia men’s basketball game against Kentucky has been postponed due to a tornado that has hit the Georgia Dome.

The tornado hit during the Alabama vs Mississippi Game moments before the Dawgs were supposed to play.

The rest of the tournament will be played at Georgia Tech’s Alexander Memorial Coliseum.

Georgia will play Kentucky at noon on Saturday and the winner of that game will play another game that night against Mississippi State around 8:30 pm.

In the first round of the SEC Tournament, the Georgia/Ole Miss game went into to overtime and it almost went to 2 overtimes if it wasn’t for a Dave Bliss bank shot with under a second left.

The longest overtime game in SEC Tournament history also involved a game with the Bulldogs. Back in 1979, Auburn defeated Georgia 95-91 in a game which took 4 overtimes.

Those two would lock up for another 4-overtime game in football in 1996, which was the first overtime game in SEC football history. In that game the Dawgs prevailed 56-49.

For the first time in a long time, the Georgia men’s basketball team and their fans have something to cheer about. Senior Dave Bliss banked a shot with under a second left in overtime to give the Bulldogs a 97-85 win over Ole Miss.

The Bulldogs led by as many as 13 in the 2nd half, but the Rebels came back and actually took the lead. Many times this season, Georgia has squandered leads and failed to fight back, but this time they kept at it.

The Dawgs were led by Terrance Woodbury’s 25 points and 2nd-team All-SEC guard Sundiata Gaines’ 22. The team shot well all night, shooting 54 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc.

Twice Georgia made big mistakes by fouling the shooter when the opponent took a 3-point shot in the closing seconds. First Billy Humphrey made the mistake and Ole Miss tied the game in regulation and then Corey Butler did it late into overtime and the Rebels tied the game again.

But with 5.5 seconds left, Butler redeemed himself driving down the court and finding Bliss on the side, made a great pass, and then the big guy from Wisconsin banked it home.

The win gave the Dawgs the win and improved to 14-16 on the season while Ole Miss falls to 21-10. Georgia now faces Kentucky in a 2nd round game that will start sometime after 9:45 pm.
