Mini Coopers – Features That Make Them Popular

Mini coopers, once a popular fuel efficient small car from the British Motor Corporation, are now part of the BMW stable. These cars now come modified with several safety and performance features that have taken them out of the league of a small city car and placed them in the compact car segment.

Mini coopers are cars that have been in the market since the 50s. When they were first introduced, they were a popular option because they were small cars that helped with maintaining fuel economy, which was a requirement because of the fuel shortage in that time due to the Suez crisis. However, slowly with the unique design that is particular to this small car, the mini captured millions of hearts worldwide.

Mini coopers were initially manufactured by the British Motor Corporation but since 1994 when BMW bought over the Rover group, the mini has become a popular brand under the BMW stable.  The cars are not only known for the design and style, but now they come with the quality and reliability that BMW is associated with.

There are several features which make mini coopers a popular choice for those looking for a small car that delivers speed and performance. The new Mini, which is how the car is known after BMW took over the brand, is actually slightly larger than the older version made by BMC. The original mini came with just two doors, but now they have been modified to offer a four door option. The car comes with a hard top as well as well as a convertible option. Similarly, besides the standard model, the Mini is also available in Sports and Country versions.

There are several alterations that have been made with respect to the design and specifications of mini coopers. In addition to being made slightly larger, there are several new safety features that have been introduced such as air bags for the driver and passenger seats, side air bags for the seats of the first two rows, anti-lock brakes for all four wheels, and an engine immobilizer to prevent severe damage during crashes.

Besides this, the mini is one small car that is packed with features for performance. Mini coopers are extremely fuel efficient cars, but that doesn’t mean that they take the fun out of driving. There is a special sports button which can be used to tighten steering movement and also bring better acceleration response. It also has a multi-link rear suspension, which keeps the rear wheels flat on the ground irrespective of how bumpy the terrain is. Mini coopers also come with the options of manual transmission or the automatic variation. In addition, they are available in several color options such as chili red, midnight black, spice of orange, ice blue, pepper white and some others.
