The SEC Tournament is this week… This is the 12th time it has been held in Atlanta. It is also the 9th time in the last 14 years it has been held there. Atlanta was the site of the first 2 SEC tournaments back in 1933 (won by Kentucky) and 1934 (won by Alabama).
There was no tournament held in 1935 and none from 1953 to 1978.
Other places it has been held include: Knoxville, Baton Rouge, Louisville, Lexington, Birmingham, Nashville, Orlando, Memphis and New Orleans.

I had no idea that the SEC had such a long drought in tourneys. How did they determine a champion in those years if there were ties, et al?

not sure of the answer…. i will try to find out for you this weekend at the tournament
