Starting at 1:05 today in Orlando, Mike Hampton will take the mound, and face off against the Detroit Tigers for his second start of the spring. Braves fans will collectively hold their breath and hope that Hampton makes it through his innings unscathed.
The buzz around Hampton, so far, in Grapefruit action is that he looks sharp and expectations are starting to rise. Let’s just say that I’d like to see him stay healthy all spring and then I’ll start raising expectations for Hampton, who hasn’t pitched in a Major League game since 2005 and hasn’t logged more than 20 starts since 2004.
Hampton went two innings in his first start. He struck out one batter, didn’t walk anyone and didn’t surrender any runs.
On a side note, head over to Talking Chop today for the game. They guys over there are in Orlando, sitting in the bleachers, and plan to live blog the game.
