Stat Of The Day

Atlanta Hawks restricted free agent Josh Childress has been offered a contract by the Greek team Olympiakos. The team has been rumored to offer the swingman around $20 million for 3 seasons.
The Hawks need to sign this 6th-man star badly. He was 2nd in the NBA in scoring among players that did not start averaging 11.8 points per game (only J.R. Smith had more).
He also does not miss often. He shot 57.1 percent from the floor last season and 52.2 percent in his career. That last number is 5th best among Atlanta Hawks players all-time.
Here are the top-5 all-time leaders in career field goal pct by an Atlanta Hawk…
Mike Glenn (1981-85) .553
Dikembe Mutombo (1996-01) .529
Tree Rollins (1977-88) .529
Cliff Levingston (1984-90) .528
Josh Childress (2004-08) .522

If they lose Childress, keep in mind that Tree Rollins is now unemployed.

Is he even considering this option? And if he is, what does that say about the Hawks organization that a player would even consider an outside the NBA team over the Hawks?

He not only is considering it, from what I’ve read, he is strongly leaning towards it.
Somehow, if the Hawks were going to lose Childress, this makes the most sense. In some horrible twisted way, that is.

Hi guys. It is official. Josh Childress has just signed his 3 year contract with Olympiacos a few minutes ago. He might be only a 6th player in the NBA but at this age he is considered a big name/move here in our country and in Europe in general (since young players of his calibre/potential don’t leave the NBA for Europe at this age). He will get $20m (net, taxes will be paid by the club). His contract gives him the right to return to the NBA in summer, as long as he officialy gives a notice to the club by July 15th so it looks like next June/July his name will be in the transfer news again. Regards from Greece and a “Agent Zero” fan (sorry Hawks fans- lol)
