Stat Of The Day

Today marks the 23rd anniversary of the ending of one of the greatest games in Braves history. Yesterday was the 23rd anniversary of the beginning of that same game.
The Mets defeated the Braves 16 to 13 in 19 innings in a game that had multiple of delays and had a firework display a little after 4:00 am.
I’m not getting into details of that game… you should know it, but if you don’t it is explained well here.
But the thing that most people remember is Rick Camp’s home run in the bottom of the 18th inning off of Tom Gorman that tied the game. Yes, he also was the last out of the game, but that tying home run was pretty amazing.
Check out Rick Camp’s career batting numbers…
hits/at-bats: 13/175
average: .074
doubles: 4
triples: 0
home runs: 1
rbi: 7
times walked: 4
times struck out: 85

Rick Camp - he was an underrated reliever on some very bad Braves teams for a number of years (back in the days when they resembled, in more ways than one, a very good blue collar company softball team).
