March Madness! March Madness! March Madness!….. wait a minute, it’s April… The first NCAA Tournament in men’s basketball happened in 1939 and due to fewer teams and fewer games, the tournament used to be done by March.

It wasn’t until 1983 when games got pushed into April. That was also the year that the Georgia Bulldogs made it to their only Final Four (they would lose to NC State who eventually won it all.)
