Atlanta Thrashers defensivemen Niclas Havelid is up for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy. The award is for the NHL player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice. He was nominated by his teammates.

Havelid has missed just game this season and is one of the few Thrashers that actually is on the plus side in the plus/minus ratio.

Off the ice he has a program called ‘Havelid’s Helpers’ which involves the Habitat for Humanity group and assists in building homes and schools.
