Okay, two days into the season, and the alarms are already going off in some people’s heads. People complaining about the Braves. Ripping the bullpen. Questioning Bobby Cox. I can assure you, on this overcast day in Atlanta, that the sky really isn’t falling (although the clouds do make it appear that way). So, instead of writing about the events of the first two days, I thought I would use this post as a little therapy for you wackos out there.
This isn’t the Braves of the last two years. This team is built to win now, and that’s exactly what they are going to do. I mean come on…they’ve lost the first two games by a grand total of two runs, and had rousing 9th inning comebacks in both of them. They’ve shown the fight and desire to win games, and just haven’t. NO BIG DEAL.
I know many fans have trouble adjusting to life as a baseball fan this time of year. Losing a game or two isn’t the end of the world like it can be in football. Bullpens are going to blow games. People will make errors. Get used to it. It’s been that way forever.
Braves fans, as we transition out of March baseball, keep in mind a few things…the Mets are still old, the Phillies still don’t have starters in the 3-5 spots, and that there are still 160 more games to play. It will be alright. I promise.
